I'm back from honeymoon, the kids are back in school/nursery and I am RARING to go.

Work has been very scarce for the last few months but I'm now having to juggle a couple of self-employed opportunities as well as work out if I want to accept a job offer.

Plus I have just had a 2nd interview for a permanent job that I would really like to land. Apparently it's down to me and one internal candidate.

So things are finally looking up.

Should I get offered this second job then I will be letting down at least one person who wanted me to come in as a contractor. I'm hoping a frank conversation will smooth all that out. I've known this person for 20 years so I am pretty sure they will understand.

All that is irrelevant if I'm not offered this job.

If that position doesn't pan out then I'll just juggle the two self-employed positions - and earn a lot more money...

The first job offer I received was a bit of a shock as I was on a Greek island and my phone was usually locked away in the safe in my hotel room.

On checking it one Friday I found a load of emails asking me to complete all the onboarding for the role. Of course, I couldn't do any of this as I was far too busy working my way through the cocktail menu. In addition, I needed to clarify some details that weren't covered in the application or the interview; specifically the working conditions.

A very important consideration - what kind of hybrid working do you offer? I got the impression it was 5 days a week on-site which in this day and age I deem completely unacceptable.

I've emailed the person who would be my line manager and asked what the deal is. If it does turn out to be all on-site work then it'll be a hard no.

My life has changed drastically over the last 4 years and I simply couldn't commute to an office everyday. There's no need with the kind of work I do.

At a stretch I could to maybe 2 or 3 days in the office but there would have to be at least 2 days working from home each week.

Commuting sucks and I want to do as little of it as possible.

The Portfolio

There's a massive issue with the LM portfolio at the moment - each position is doing very well but I have to trim something as I need money again.

On the one hand it's a good position to be in, everything is going up and looking really healthy (see table above).

On the other hand it's terrible...

I NEED to withdraw some money so I am forced to pull the plug on at least two shares in order to free up some capital but killing these really strong and profitable trades goes against everything I believe when it comes to investing.

This should be the last destructive amendment to the LM fund.

I fully expect to be in full-time, permanent employment very soon and with all the wedding and honeymoon expenditure done and dusted I should be able to stop hemorrhaging money and get back on track with savings.

The wages from any job I get should cover all of the household expenses and debt repayments and then all my bookmaker and Betfair dealings should provide for reasonable investment funds going forward.

I hate withdrawing from my LISA but there really was no alternative. Initially I sold some good assets which covered me for a while but sometimes need must.

The LM fund will recover. More importantly we have financed a wedding - an absolutely brilliant wedding - with the minimum of debt and can now start to build again.

So hopefully that job offer phone call comes at some point this week.
