It's Thursday morning, 0750 and I find myself in a predicament - the National Lottery has sent me an email saying that I won a prize in last night's draw.

Fantastic - great news.

The only problem is I can't get on to the app to check what prize it is...

Now it's almost certainly something disappointing like £30, maybe even £5 and a "lucky dip" but until I can find out for sure I have the smallest hope that I won the big one.

I recall reading about the lottery winner who logged in to the website on a Monday morning at work to find a seven figure balance. Is this how it works? You just log in and find a life-changing amount of money showing?

Or do they have another process... maybe you log in and there's a message - "please call the Lottery headquarters urgently".

I must admit I'd love to find out through first-hand experience.

It's all very exciting. I sit here thinking about my next move if it does turn out that I've beaten those 1 in 45 million odds.

I've worked it out, here's what I'd do if I have won a significant amount:

(1) Immediately go looking for another house. It wouldn't be a mansion out in the country somewhere but a bigger house than we currently have in the same area. I'd say a five bedroom detached where we can change one of the smaller bedrooms into a walk-in wardrobe - or maybe where there's scope for a decent extension.

(2) Make plans to rent our current house out. No point in selling up, this would rent quickly for a 4 figure per month sum so why not let someone else pay if off for us?

(3) Fill my LISA, my Stocks & Shares ISA, my partner's LISA and S&S ISA (she doesn't have either yet but will), fill my daughters' Junior ISAs.

(4) Upgrade our August holiday to something further away and more first class than Easyjet can provide.

(5) Swear my partner to secrecy

(6) Take 6 months to decide what to do with the remainder of the money i.e. whether to give any away to family or friends

(7) Delete this post and never mention anything to anyone EVER about the win or the money

0800: Just checked the website and, like the app, it is down for maintenance. I am wondering whether the email was a mistake and we'll get an update shortly telling us it was in error.

0828: App back up... it was £30... Pfffttt...

Just a couple of changes to the portfolio since last time. I added another unit to LM071 on the 29th January and then another to LM061 on the 8th February.

Both trades had got to 20% profit again so they warranted some further investment.

I closed off LM057 on the 5th February as it had dropped below its 200 day SMA and stayed under it for more than 3 days.

The share was Centrica PLC (CNA) and in total the trade lasted 389 days and gave a profit of £394.55 although as you can see from the below graph, it had come down quite a lot from the high:

In hindsight the third unit addition to this position was a mistake but you've got to be in it to win it as they say.

Bit disappointing to be closed out on this one as it had been a nice upward move from the very beginning until the turn in September.

The blue arrows are the buying points and the red arrow shows where I exited.

Not much else on the horizon at the moment - I still need to have a look through Friday's new 52 week highs and the pile of Sunday Times Business supplements sits gathering dust. Maybe there will be new positons by the next update, maybe not.

One thing that will have changed - LM074 will be gone as the underlying company has been taken over.

The position has been showing in my broker account with zero value for the last couple of weeks after I got a secure message telling me that my account will soon be credited with the proceeds of the sale. I thought it was today that the money was due to land but it wasn't there this morning.

Doesn't really matter, I guess I'll see it at some point this week and then I'll update the Completed Trades page and detail what the share was in the next update.
