As quickly as it arrived, Christmas is gone.

Took me a while to realise that today is just a normal day - the markets are open, people are going to work, the postman has been.

It was only once I was doing my daily football match check and I realised there were no daytime UK matches, only some evening football, that I twigged we're back to normal.

I hope you had a great Christmas, full of festive cheer, good food and great company.

Mine was quiet. Family, presents, Bucks Fizz, food, beers (although surprisingly few), Blackadder's Christmas Carol, a few chocolates, some Egg Nog, early night.

Boxing Day was where it got a bit silly with a visit to the pub for a "couple of hours". Managed to zip through from 6pm to closing and then had the argument that you are supposed to have at Christmas and went to bed without words.

Woke this morning with a bit of nausea and a slight headache but managed to make a coffee and take some paracetemol before the toddler woke up. Thankfully the other half cosied up to me in the kitchen to say sorry shortly after she got up. Of course I apologised too, immediately.

Now it's 3pm and we're stripped the house of everything Christmas. Luckily we don't do anything outside because it's throwing it down.

Couple more days off and back to work on Tuesday.

I'm going to try and nurse just a couple of beers on New Years Eve. Can't say I've ever enjoyed going out on the 31st December. The two best NYEs I've had in recent memory were the ones where I didn't even see midnight. The first was where I was newly single and I stayed in with my daughter, went to bed at ten and got up to go for a leisurely breakfast early the next day. Fantastic.

The second was where my daughter was at her mum's but my partner was pregnant so we stayed in together, watched TV and were asleep before any fireworks. Bliss.

Last year was pretty good too. I was deathly ill and went to bed at eight so missed all the drinking and hangover antics. Wasn't much fun at the time but the next day I felt fantastic come midday.

So 2023 is nearly gone and the market has been poor, again. As I write this update the FTSE 250 is showing as being up 2.77% year to date.

The LM portfolio is up around 5% so I'm OK with that. The price of the 250 has only just gone over the 200 day SMA so I can start buying again, which I intend to do in January.

Two positions were cut in late October that I never got around to discussing:
LM056 which was INF was closed with a profit of £78 or so.
LM062 - ABF was closed with a loss of around £92. Of course this one popped straight back up on good news a few days later but I was able to simply shrug and move on.

Broke my own rules again to add a third unit to my oldest position - LM055. It's still creeping upwards and nudging the portfolio towards an all time high.

Bet I jinxed it now. Happy New Year all!
