Since the last update there have been several changes to the portfolio, as reflected in the above table.
First of all the positive; a new pyramid was added to LM057 on the 30th May as it reached 20% profit. The share price has come down a little since then but that's no cause for concern. As the position was already in profit then a small decline in the share price only eats into the existing profit.
Here's hoping that it is dropping back a little to prepare for a spring upwards. Nothing travels directly up in a straight line and there is some leeway here so it can be given some breathing space.
Of course when you increase the position it magnifies any drops - but then it also magnifies any increase.
And now for the positions that have disappeared from the portfolio. The last update was on the 29th May 2023 and since then the following have been sold to close:
LM063 was closed on the 30th May. This was an ETF of the FTSE 250 and it turned out to be a short term trade - only 36 days - and lost £47.96. Dead simple - the FTSE 250 fell below its 200 day SMA so I sold the ETF.
LM059 was a purchase of "DX." and was sold for a £234.06 loss. This was the equivalent of about 18.5%. Check DX out on your favourite share website, it's has a small market cap and doesn't seem to be very liquid. It only just qualified for a purchase as I won't buy anything with a market cap under £100 million.
Naturally I sold it on the 6th June because it had steadily dropped ever since I bought it and looking at the chart over the long term it had been doing very little for months, only for it to jump 13% in a day later that week.
I gave it a chance, it didn't perform, now it's gone. I missed a bump but won't be buying back in just yet.
With summer on the horizon I probably won't be buying anything for a while. All is looking reasonably healthy at present - LM055 is going great guns with the underlying share making new all-time highs. Long may it continue.
