Coming back from two weeks in the US it's nice to see that the markets haven't collapsed and taken away a chunk of my portfolio.
Quite the opposite in fact.
A nice uplift in value sees much of my Natwest and FTSE 250 ETF losses reclaimed - although we're still some way from getting anywhere near to the forecasted gains needed to get to 7 figures by my 60th birthday.
Plus - and this is a hugely disappointing plus - I missed out on adding anything at all to my LISA in 2022/2023. It just wasn't possible to find the cash to invest and I decided that getting a loan for the money was not a good idea in the long run.
This morning I find myself temporarily out of work as my contract finished in March and I have yet to find anything to replace it.
My readily-available savings will last for a couple of weeks and then I'll need to do some pretty painful manoeuvring in order to keep the bills paid. I have some ideas, and some nice assets tucked away but I'd rather not have to sell these. They will fetch far more if someone else comes looking.
All my holiday spending money was cash, I didn't use any credit so I won't be paying any interest - another plus.
And the FTSE 250 popped up above the 200 day SMA on Friday again. Hopefully this will continue and I can add more positions to the LM portfolio.
Sitting on cash always feels like I'm wasting time and at the moment the LM portfolio is 60% cash. If the FTSE 250 stays above that 200 day SMA line for a few days then it's the green light to get adding some positions and now I'm back and refreshed it's time to look at some commodities too.
