The glaring red number above belongs to LM036 which was the share I mentioned as paying a special dividend for holders on 26th February.

I'm hoping that the dividend amount will make up the shortfall in the asset price as that large percentage loss makes me uneasy when I see it in my portfolio. My finger instinctively moves towards the "deal" button so I can sell and make my screen look instantly better.

However, the share looks in reasonable health on the weekly checks so it stays for now. Once the dividend is paid I will do a little bit of maths each week to amend the value to incorporate that amount as the shortfall in the share value is purely due to the special dividend being paid out.

Elsewhere the portfolio is looking good.

The FTSE 100 went up a piddly 0.5% over the week, the FTSE 250 went down by 2 points but the LM fund rose nicely.

It was roughly one year ago that the porfolio was looking fantastic with a roughly 18% gain. At that point I was very happy - 18% is the target growth each year.

Of course the COVID panic then set in and I was forced to liquidate all of my positions as they lost ground due to the resulting sell-off. Most positions were closed at a loss which was quite irritating coming just a few days or weeks after seeing the fund at a gain of nearly 20%.

There's little chance of achieving the target I wanted for the last day of this tax year. Should these positions continue to grow then it may be possible to catch up by the end of the 21/22 tax year.
