LM024 was closed on Monday following a signal from the weekend's check. This particular trade resulted in a miniscule loss of around £6 which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I did wonder whether I had gotten out too early and if a closing signal of the lowest low in 20 days is perhaps too short of a timescale to work on. However, Brent Crude continued to fall as the week went on and so my decision to cut the trade looks like a good one.
This is the second time I have bought this particular commodity via an ETF (PBRT) and neither trade has been profitable.
But the time will come when I get this right, I have no doubt about that. And the winners should pay for the losers - with some extra too.
So this leaves the LISA Millionaire portfolio rather empty with just two positions.
I was able to add another grand to the LISA this week so I've plenty of cash ready to reinvest when I feel the time is right.
My plan, when the FTSE 100 shows some signs of moving up, is to invest in a handful of shares that are making new 52 week highs. I'll try to make sure they are reasonably diverse i.e. from separate sectors and limit my exposure by sticking to a strict 20% maximum loss.
Size-wise I imagine I'll probably stick to using £1,000 per trade until my bank reaches £20k at which point I will likely move up to £1250 or £1500.
Another thought I have had is to start accumulating in an ETF for the FTSE 250. This idea comes from a trading seminar I saw at one point in the past. There's a simple rule of being long when the FTSE 250 is over the 200 day SMA and closing when it moves below.
Sounds simple enough - it should catch the major moves and keep me in a trade for the long term. Hopefully I'll be invested for the next major move up and make good profits if I add to it periodically.
Of course this may all change. Depends on many factors which will only become apparent when they become apparent! If that makes any sense...
